What Is PSAA?
The mission of the Penn State Alumni Association (PSAA) is to connect alumni to the University and to each other, to provide valued services to members, and to support the University’s mission of teaching, research, and service.
The Challenge
The Alumni Association recognized a disconnect between recent graduates, current students, and the lifelong community Penn State offers. Existing outreach efforts were losing traction, and younger alumni were disengaging from the traditions and connections that once defined their college experience.
Strategy and Approach
To bridge the growing gap between recent graduates, current students, and Penn State’s lifelong community, my team at CommAgency leaned into storytelling as a tool for reconnection. We saw an opportunity to reimagine how the Alumni Association engages young alumni—moving beyond traditional outreach to something more personal and inspiring.
Our video strategy focused on three key themes: the power of tradition, the impact of alumni involvement, and the chance to leave a legacy on campus.
We kicked things off with Be A Part From The Start, an energetic, tradition-rich welcome video designed to spark excitement and belonging from day one. Through emotionally resonant content and authentic voices, we set out to rekindle pride, celebrate shared memories, and make Penn Staters feel part of something bigger, no matter where they are in their journey.
